Teachers design learning that connects knowledge and practices through multiple, varied experiences with the aim of developing conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
Knowledge = The facts, concepts, principles, and theories to teach.
Practices= The skills, strategies, and applications to teach.
The Teaching and Planning guidance is specifically for mathematics and statistics, and contains guidance for planning and developing a comprehensive teaching and learning programme. It should be read alongside the New Zealand Curriculum Framework which has general guidance for all learning areas.
